Thanks for telling us what each of the MBB firms are
Lols, I outlined them for tagging purposes, but I can see how it must've come off. 😭
The direct answer to your question is no. But that's because the talent model is different.
MBB do hire undergrad and MBA students for summer internship programs and also for full time roles after graduation.
It's not similar to leadership programs you see in the industry, where you hire "high potential" folks in the program and make them rotate in different departments / regions, while also hiring for regular roles in parallel.
In consulting, a large part of the hiring is in the core consulting team. Recruiting process is very competitive and everyone is considered "high potential". The career is accelerated for all. People are expected to get promoted from time to time, if they don't, they get fired (called "up or out model"). If they stick, they end up in leadership roles relatively early in the career.
To recruit for MBB, he can apply in the website, but those companies also do a lot of on campus recruiting. So, his school may be able to help and guide him through the process.
I hope that helps clarify your doubt.
PS: all I said is about the core consulting roles. I'm not familiar with how the non-core recruiting works.
This is a great answer. A small caveat - once you are in MBB on the core consulting track you can apply for LDP-like 6-12 month rotations as long as you’re in top standing. BCG has global ambassador (international rotations) and CEO ambassador (internal chief of staff like work) among others.
Dad, let your sun do his homework
Cheers son’s crying
KKR: at the end you are going to get him work for you at KKR, why not now! Come on! Pull some plugs!
“Few” times 😂
Why don’t you hook him up at KKR?
You're more than welcome to apply here as well. 😄
The fact that people here are encouraging nepotism is nasty. (OP you are a good guy, this is at the commenters)
SC2 if it happens at EY I don’t support it either lol bash all you want I agree
Chief
Who cares about MBB when the goldmine is KKR
Adopt me 🥹 I also have PE/CDD experience
Chief
In all seriousness , I would start with a summer internship to get a feel of consulting
IMO , PE is definitely a better career start than Consulting (better overall picture and better to do it when you are younger to optimise for WLB
Selfishly, can I DM you looking at exit opps in PE? TMT expert and I know KKR invests heavily in the sector
What is a leadership program supposed to be? Assuming you mean pre-internship?
There are programs similar to this at MBB but only for black students, latino students, and in some cases all women.
Pro
OP, if I were you, I’d hire MBB consultants to do a DD for you, build a relationship with them and pass your son’s resume to them.
I don’t think you should focus there’s anything similar at BCG. However I know that most of the MBBs have lots of different internship programs and even leadership programs (however you can apply for them after joining full-time). I would highly suggest to do his best to join MBB instead of Tier 2 (I made that switch) as the experience and available resources is uncomparable. Leadership program or not I think MBB is the way (for consulting). Hope that helps
MBB doesn’t have leadership programs because they are leadership programs. Guide your son in that direction over B4.
I mean the son has a gold mine career staring at him and he wants to trade it for Pennies by getting into consulting. Phew
I know for sure mck and Bain do pre-mba summer programs.
McKinsey have a product development and procurement program if he’s interested in operations.
*has
I don’t know what a leadership program means, but we have internships from freshman year… nothing better that applying and getting in for freshman or sophomore year. They get to test another industry as raising senior already having a McK offer
Also - which school, that is important
I don't know if anything officially at Bain for this. However, sometimes people can play fast and loose with the rules if you have a partner friend or two 😌
Best of luck!
