Thoughts on a Omega De Ville Prestige as a first luxury watch? Would be ~$7.5K USD at retail. Some friends have said great things about Omega as a starter, whereas others say it’s not worth it over a Rolex Oyster Perpetual (which would be similar in cost).
I personally love how clean the design is, the use of gold, and the thinner band as it links the watch … find the Rolex band design to be too chunky.

99% no. But the 1% makes it worth it.
You mean the escorts?
90% of compliments I get on my watch are from other dudes
100% of the compliments I get are from dudes
Other than Rolex - no lady ever noticed one of mine.
Guys on the other hand - it's like a magnet :)
Depends on the lady and the watch. Most people will notice a Rolex or a Cartier as a piece of common jewelry. If you’re wearing a tourbillion or a Lange or something, it’s to impress dudes or gold diggers
I notice, but all I really think is 'oh, he's a watch guy'
Unless you have a vintage Daytona, then I'm jealous.
Sometimes - it tends to be the more uncommon and colorful watches like my orange Glashutte
Basically 100% of the things guy think will attract women: huge muscles, cars, watches; very few women care about.
Women seem to have a much more holistic view of ‘hotness’ and suitability as a partner.

Not to over-generalize, but usually the comments I get from women are on the aesthetics of a watch (I like the design, the strap, etc) whereas it’s the watch nerd men that know what model it is and the history/context around it
Nope it’s like that gym meme. You’ll get a bunch of nerdy dudes before any woman comes up to you asking about your 5 digit GMT
I get most comments from men, but probably 30% from women. But my watches stand out, being mostly pre-1970 vintage. Sadly, with women, it’s often a Proustian memory of grandpa’s or a favorite uncle’s watch.
Watch collecting lady here. Absolutely. It’s a great conversation starter.
Absolutely they notice it
The extent of it is “oh he’ll know what time it is”
I notice 🙋🏽♀️ but I love watches and collect myself, so it’s a great conversation starter
In my early 20s, ladies noticed my Movado and Swatch. Now only dudes notice my Rolexes.
A woman might comment if it’s interesting looking or different than other watches, not because of brand or how much it costs.
A colorful brew watch will get 10x more compliments over a GMT or even something like a royal oak.
Until a couple months ago I don’t think I ever had a woman comment on one of my watches. Guys did pretty often, especially when they were wearing the same one.
Based on this I was really surprised that what was noticed was a JLC. She was married and so am I but damn.
I do notice 🙋🏻♀️ and always appreciate a good watch. What I can’t tell is what’s fake and what’s authentic 🤣 . I met someone who was wearing a Royal Oak once only to learn it was a fake bought on some reddit recommended site
