You say, "Hey! I appreciate working with you, I value you as a co-worker but I keep my work and private life separate while at the same employer."
Simple, and direct, perfect.

Connecting with any current coworkers is always a bad idea, but especially your manager, unless you post nothing but kitten videos.
You can tell her that you have a policy of not "friending" anyone you currently work with. I've had to do that and it was accepted just fine.

Sounds like a company culture you're well out of. That's crazy!

Tell them you restict it to extended family. And you are happy to connect on LinkedIn.
Yes, tell them it’s strictly for your personal life and you don’t mix personal and professional. It’s never a good idea to accept work colleagues as friends on any social media—you never know why they’re wanting to get into your personal life.
You don’t owe your coworkers, regardless of title, any insight to you beyond work. If she should ask again, tell her your life outside of work is private and shared with close family and friends. Tell her you do not accept invitations from those you work with because they don’t fall into the friends nor family category.
I don't "friend" anyone I work with while I'm working with them. I've made two exceptions to this for people I became close friends with outside of work. But DEFINITELY not my manager.
I'll connect on LinkedIn while we work together and MAYBE connect on social media after I've left.

I’m public on Facebook and Instagram and treat it similarly to linked in. I think everything online that’s shared should be done so in a way that assumes everyone in your life will see it- including bosses, clergy, etc. Meta takes all your data anyway.

Very true. Even if you think you’ve deleted an old post, someone can always find it. Better to keep social media to things that are safe for everyone to see.
No don’t do it protect your privacy

I don’t actively use social media with the exception of LinkedIn… there’s so many rules of the road that can lead to disciplinary actions up to and including termination…
We had an employee that trash talked our fun during the government shutdown last year on TikTok… they got fired for it… I’m good without it, and it doesn’t bother me one bit…
The manager who sent you a friend request is out of line. Throughout my career, I’ve never accepted an invitation to connect on social media for anyone I manage. It’s unprofessional and, in my opinion, an exceptionally bad idea.
I do not. My social and business life are separate. I would never want and coworker to misconstrue anything that I may comment on or post. I don’t think it’s appropriate.

If I like them, yes

It really is a terrible idea unless all you're posting is kitten videos or equally totally innocuous stuff. If you post anything political, or about your job, do you really want your boss seeing it?
Don’t accept it bc the minute you decide you no longer want to mix your personal and work life together and delete them they’re gonna make you look bad.
Absolutely NOT! My social media is personal and there’s no place for business. I only have ex-coworkers that were close that Ive stayed in contact with.
The only exception is LinkedIn but that’s pure business!
No. I make it a firm policy not to. You never know. I especially wouldn't accept one for my boss. I would keep those boundaries firm. You never know what a company could use against you someday. I would keep all that stuff private and always be careful of what you post.
To request your friendship on two platforms is suspicious, good you did not accept, they're looking for information that they couldn't get from you at work. I usually say I barely go on the platform or have not been there lately but, you don't have to explain why you did not accept the request.
I have 2 of each social media accounts for this specific reason.
Tel them that your using private social media accounts as a free storage.
Years ago I did, but I won’t now. My son’s school has a rule that parents can’t friend teachers on social media until there’s no longer a chance the child will be in their class. Tell her you use something similar.
In the past I have done it on a case by case basis, but these days I am very hesitant. However, I haven't removed former colleagues that I despise so they can see I live a good life haha
I tell people the truth… You tell me other peoples business with out me requesting it therefore I’m good on being social media friends lol
