Would love some advice / thoughts. I went straight from law school to a corporate legal department in house for an asset manager. They like “home grown” talent and I “be worked hard and risen relatively quickly (AGC in 9 years). I work hard and get a lot of complicated deals done (structured products and private funds). I can’t shake certain people (in compliance department mainly) thinking I don’t have enough experience to do what I do because I didn’t come from a law firm. Any advice?

For those working in house, how much “from scratch” document drafting are you doing vs. reviewing and revising “outside documents”. For example, if your company wants to enter into a joint venture company with another entity, are you drafting the company agreement “from scratch” or is it based on internal forms? For in-house counsel roles, does firm prestige matter? For example, would the fact that an applicant is from Sullivan & Cromwell vs, say, White & Case matter at all, or is it much more about experience/interview? Currently working on a three person team in a larger GC group. I lateraled from a different group that did not pay attorneys on an attorney scale. I’m stuck in my old pay scale but have gotten promotions and raises quickly with more on the horizon. A recruiter reached out with a new role for 2-2.5x more than I currently make doing something similar. I love my company and the people I work with but the money isn’t there. Is it worth trying to get a counter to stay if I get the bigger offer?

Have interviews set up at FAANG co and getting good signals, for a position that was posted widely (all across US) but not remote. Haven’t broached the subject of location yet. Would you (1) early on clearly state that you’re not open to relocation but that you would be open to visiting a big office once or twice a month; (2) not say anything now and wait to get an offer and ask for an exemption; or (3) something else?

Can anyone help me wrap my head around this post Series C start-up equity offer? It’s an IP director position, the the base is $170 with 10% bonus (both lower than I was expecting). There’s also an equity component: 0.15% of current fully diluted equity. This equates to about 30000 shares at a strike price of $2. They also indicate the preferred stock price is $6 and preferred stock equity is $188k (whatever that means). They are in the middle of a new financing and valuation round.
