Really depends on the practice area. Patent pros can get it immediately after law school with 0 experience, with EC VC a very new company could take you early, in lit the best timing could be 5+ years.
Unpredictable, could be immediate if a client just takes a liking to you or could be a few years. Also faster if you are willing to work with earlier startups for less/equity. Could be a few yours for f500
I saw a junior with 1.5 years go in house. ECVC practice in CA. Just to affirm it’s possible. No advice though sorry!

You can apply if you don’t have 3 years as long as you generally meet the other requirements. I went in-house in privacy at 2 but keep in mind the earlier you go in-house the lower your pay will be. There’s a big pay gap in-house until you hit 5 years.
Thank you for offering that insight!
I actually went in house with less than a year’s experience, most of the postings that say 3-5 years will consider people with less experience!
Sure!
0.7 year (mostly lit) associate here, currently considering an in-house offer at a listed French company. Anything is possible, just not as readily.
Congrats on that offer!
Edit: did you apply for positions that listed several years of experience?
