Do you bill for a 45 minute lunch break during a deposition that was taken at the request of the deponent if you just waited for the deponent to return from lunch and didn’t perform any other billable tasks?

Yes. That’s added into the total billable time of the depo. Then if you’re feeling ambitious you can do some work on other cases during the 45 min.

One theory is that you are there for the deposition, so yes. Are you preparing during the break? Certainly bill for prep work.

like

Yes, you’re waiting for the deponent because of the deposition, because of that work.
(Typically you want to try to use the time if you can, to prepare for the deposition or otherwise, but if you can’t and you’re stuck somewhere because of work, it’s generally billable)

I often hear of people that got PIPed at Amazon. If it just depends on the performance, how badly does one need to fu*k up (according to the manager) to end up getting PIPed

I had a first interview last Tuesday with Amazon, which I think went well, although I still haven't heard back 6 days later and then got an OOO annual leave msg and a no response when I chased up the named colleague today. Is this typical behaviour others have experienced when dealing with the big tech company recruiters? I found Google and Facebook recruiters to be efficient and TikTok so-so, if not a little slow, but 6 days+ seems poor.
