Sure, loud people can overshadow us, but it's not necessarily loudness. There's just a personality type that tends to project outward. It can work for people, but I often assume that just as often it backfires. I've known people who were good at projecting their personality, but once it became known they were incompetent their antics stopped being effective.

All the time. This is not an industry that rewards introverts. I try to remind myself that if I want to get ahead in my career, I have to play the game and force myself to be that person sometimes. I've never been comfortable with it.
Me neither, I try to push myself out more but it can be really difficult some days.
The problem with that is that the more confident and outgoing people are often way more visible, so they do stand out more. Even though I might be doing a great job, I’m not at the forefront of the boss's mind.
Sometimes it’s baby steps with slowly talking to more people at your company and see where it goes from there!
It depends, I’ve seen this in the past but not so much recently in my department. It should be all equal though, especially if they are all hard workers!

Welcome to the world :) This is humanity's algorithm, in general. If you're lucky, you'll have a manager/supervisor who doesn't fall for the person who never shuts up. Most managers are not that enlightened, especially in today's workplace.
