Do you ever have a week that feels like everything that can go wrong does? This week has been that for me, thankfully nothing super terrible but it’s just constant rework.

Two of my change controls need amendments
I have to get a report re-reviewed
I have several deviations that need impact statements rewritten

I've always been a great believer in Murphy's Law, the concept that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. And some weeks seem to be modeled on Murphy's Law. All you can do when you realize you're living one of those weeks is be prepared to fix what you can as fast as you can.

Gotta love those Murphy's Law weeks. Happened to me last month. I wanted to quit/cry/retire/sell all my worldly possessions and live in the woods when Friday finally rolled around.

Exactly! Just want to go live in the damn woods away from the nonsense

I work with a junior PM who is not performing. Not my report, we share a mgr, but as a senior PM I lead the product. He can’t finish anything, needs a lot of coaching, I give him 2h/wk but I can’t afford more.
After 2mos I raised it to our mgr who promised to work with him. 2 more mos passed, mgr talked to him only once, no change in perf. I think mgr doesn’t want to deal with the problem. Now they ask if I want to manage JPM. It is going to be a ‘no’ but I want to ask some advice on all this.

I’ve been tasked with overseeing our summer associates and playing a bigger role in recruitment and retention of associates. I’m in an AM200 firm, but our office is relatively small with historical only 1-2 junior associates at a time. Looking for fun ideas and traditions I can institute with summers and the other junior associates to increase moral and better connect with one another. Drop some fun ideas or experiences you’ve had.
