It is necessary to apply force to those who are bent on breaking the law.
That's hardly the case when illegal immigration is not a violent crime. Physical abuse is unwarranted
I think many of us forget that we are not dealing in these cases with an armed enemy. We are dealing with people who are looking for a minimum quality of life that they did not find in their countries. Empathy is free.
I think there should be more presence, but less aggressive. There are many disabled people, children, elderly people who, due to lack of vigilance, can die on the way, be raped, injured, etc.
No, I don't think border patrol should be as ruthless as they are. Some of the unveiled news articles make me sick to my stomach. I think they should be more humane in their approach and focus on keeping people safe rather than punishing them.

No. It's one thing to do your job and another to humiliate and degrade people because of their immigration status

Ruthless, that's an interesting way to characterize it. The reports are really divided. Like, remember that time people accused border patrol of using bullwhips on refugees? NOPE. Horses have these things called reins, they're used to steer the animals. Not the same thing at all
I don't think anyone should be allowed to abuse other people. Whether or not the border patrol is perpetuating this vicious cycle of abuse is not something we all agree on however. It's like saying that all police departments should be defunded because some cops are crooked. Most of them aren't. So just assuming that border patrol are all tyrannical is kind of overly simplified, don't you think so?
It's impossible to have an informed opinion unless you speak to the people who are involved, remember that some of these patrolmen are confronting seasoned criminals who are attempting to traffic children across the border for, let's just say, immoral purposes. Confronting someone like that would be a living nightmare. I'm not saying that their actions are always justified but I think in the majority of cases, there is more going on behind the scenes than we realize.
