Do you have any rules about receiving tips in your hotel? I was really helpful to a couple who stayed in our hotel for the past week, and they offered me a tip that's as big as a week's paycheck. I took it, but I've been hiding it because our rule is the tip can't be over $100. I think I deserve it. Could I get in trouble for not disclosing this?

If there is a rule about it, and you aren’t following it, obviously, you could get in trouble for it. I won’t say that I’ve never seen somebody accept something they shouldn’t have, just be aware of what that can lead to.

When I worked at a hotel I worked the front counter and was not allowed to accept tips!

That’s a tricky situation. If there’s a clear policy, not disclosing it could technically cause issues if it comes up. I totally get why it feels deserved though sometimes policies don’t account for going above and beyond.

Hi, I'm an employee at a hotel chain who works remotely. I've been working remotely for over a year now and I love it! The company I work for is very supportive of remote workers, which is great.

But there's one thing that's been bothering me: it's hard to get feedback on my work when I'm not in the office. It would be great if there was some kind of system that let me know how my performance was being evaluated while I'm working on projects from home.
