You absolutely should
Like a firefighter, you should always have your bag packed and ready at the door.
Yes. Because sometimes your job leaves you.
Rising Star
Yes. Even if you’re not looking for a job, you always want jobs to be able to look for you.
Rising Star
There’s only downside to not doing it.
Who says you get to plan??
Yes
Rising Star
Hell yes - or CV, depending on your role. Especially if you’re citing things like campaign results and impact, it’s always easier to throw these into your CV when you get them, instead of having to go back and dig for them later (which can be challenging particularly in a layoff scenario when you lose access to company servers and stuff).
Why not
Any suggestions for hosting sites? Copywriter here. I'm not necessarily looking to run but I want to have a go-bag packed ...
I switched from Carbonmade to Squarespace last year, after having been with Carbonmade for about three years. Carbonmade is great for the price, but hard to customize in a way that looks polished. Squarespace is much more expensive, but the finished product is well worn it to me. (Copywriter as well, not a Tupperware representative.)
Always keep it updated! You never know when a new opportunity will come up, or press could pick up a project, or worst case a lay off hits. Prepare for the best and worst!
Absolutely! And it helps to not feel overwhelmed when you do start looking. And when it’s fresh you can hunt down whom ever for the results section. When people leave or get laid off it’s harder to pin down
Always. It’s also easier than doing it all at once when you do decide to leave.
Absolutely. I didn’t do this, got laid off, and really wished I had everything updated.
Yah
ALWAYS
Yes
Yes. Always. Make sure you add new work, add awards etc. If you are always updating, then nobody can see you suddenly update and get suspicious. Just always do it.
Your portfolio is the most effective marketing tool you have. And the cheapest too. You never know who might end up in your page and send you an email.
Help of a lot easier than doing it all afterwards
Yes, cause you just never know.
