Avoiding politics completely isn’t always realistic (esp in this industry!). Policy shifts can seriously impact messaging, strategy, and stakeholder trust. I try to keep it grounded in relevance to the business, not personal takes. It's a balancing act for sure.
In personal conversations I generally sidestep political talk. The problem now is that most political talk isn't based in anything factual, it's mostly people repeating taunts and literal disinformation they picked up on social media. I don't deal with any political topics in my work. But with all the overreach into everyday life by the administration, that may not last much longer. As you indicate, there can be a lot of impacts from all the chaos.
Yeah it's super hard to avoid politics, especially right now when so many policies can directly affect your messaging or brand stance. I am more independent than a lot of my coworkers (not a Trump fan at all, just not a Biden/Harris fan either) so I try to avoid party politic stuff. I try instead to focus on facts, impact, and audience sensitivity. For me it’s less about debate and more about navigating the landscape responsibly.
