Does 75k sound reasonable for a leadership travel position that is 10 days on, 4 off. Mileage, food and hotels taken care of..

Not to me. That's a rough schedule. I guess if you live in a LCOL area it might be okay, but I'd do some serious thinking before accepting.

Completely understand that. I have one myself that flies with me whenever I go back home to visit family. He handles it fairly well in his carrier with some meds to help him sleep. If yours reacts the same, traveling with them isn't that big of a deal. But if not, that's even more reason to pass. I'd have such a hard time being away from mine 10 days at a time. Not to mention paying to have someone drop in, feed her and clean the litterbox would add up fast.

It’s not bad, but I always advocate that people negotiate.

Do this - “hey ABC company or recruiter name; I’m really excited by the opportunity to work with you. Can you send me the offer for review?”

Take at least 12-24 hours. I’d take 24. Go back and say “I’m excited to join the team, but I want to ask is the offer negotiable?” (Don’t say anything until they respond).

I’d ask for another 10 @85k. Do a bit of research, come with pay stats for similar roles, in a similar industry, similar city, and at your seniority or experience level. I use Robert half or pay scale.

Just make sure you can justify it if they ask. But the worst thing they can say is no.

Good luck, you got this!!

10 days on schedule seems a bit rough, what industry is this? I guess if you like being on the road and can keep your normal rent very low it could be interesting since your food and living costs for work are taken care of

What’s your current life situation?

It depends on the cost of living where you live. I would struggle on that salary and this seems like a big job that will essentially be your life. If you’re single it will make it hard to meet people with being gone that much. I would look at the big picture of your life and ask for more.

Cost of living isn't bad. For example rent for 2 bed townhouse is 860 etc. I'm ok with being alone but if I can't travel with my cat it's not worth it to me. For that they'd have to book hotel the night before I begin work. It's a lot to consider..I agree
Thanks for your thoughts

Hi everyone,
I was hoping someone could give me some advice. I’ve been taking care of my extremely sick (literally on the verge of dying) dog. I work from home so it’s not too much of a nuisance but I feel distracted all day long and can hardly get anything done because I worry about my dog. I feel like I’d benefit from a day off or even half a day off but I’ve only been working for my firm for a month now, plus I have “discretionary time off.” Would it be okay for me to ask for a day off?

At this point does it make the most sense to just stay until I get the bonus/raise and jump after?

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?

Hi All! Looking for some advice. I am a manager a country club but I do everything. I’m in charge of outside events and member events, in charge of the front of house staff, scheduling, ordering and membership sales for the club. I feel I am very underpaid at $45k. I do get commission but it’s very low ($10k give or take for the year). I work 6/7 days a week sometimes 10+ hrs/day. I’ve been researching salaries to be able to negotiate higher pay. I want to ask for $60k-is this reasonable?

I recently interviewed for VMLY & R for a senior account executive…I asked for $85k - $95k they said max they can do is $85k and that’s pushing but u looked on Glassdoor and the average is like $115k should I keep pushing for more?

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

Is there an other product engineer that could tell me if my gut feeling is right or not? Thanks in advance!

I received an offer for a role that is a lot more money than I thought but I still want to negotiate and see how much more money I can get. What can I say if the salary is already above average for the role in the market and city I live in?
