Does anyone else have an awful co-clerk? I.e., lazy, rarely around, invests a fraction of the time and effort in edits for you as you do for them, work-product riddled with both technical and substantive errors? Just generally grossly inconsiderate, but oblivious to that fact?

They’re probably not around because you’re hyperjudgmental and aren’t a chill co-worker. They owe you nothing.

Yeah, my bad, forgot that not wanting to do trash work and getting constantly beat down by playing damage control for this person makes me the jerk

likefunny

Why do you care if they are around? Don’t you manage your own cases?

like

Eh, only to a degree. Most chambers (I think) circulate and collectively edit all work-product that goes out. So there’s actually a lot of co-dependence between all 3-4 clerks even if we all technically have our own cases

like

Yeah my co-clerk was a slightly milder version of that but I really didn’t give a s***. She was cool and we had a few laughs.

I have worked on oracle in the past but now am fully into SAP. Should I take this project or wait until Jan for SAP project?

For writing samples in clerkship applications, can you edit/revise a final work product already submitted to the court? For instance, if there's a typo or something. Can more substantive edits be made to improve the work product?

Ive been practicing in TX for 2-3 years at a big law firm doing mostly bankruptcy work (and some trial) and looking to clerk at a bankruptcy court in SDNY/DDE/EDVA (I am well aware of how great the SDTX judges are but I am set on leaving Texas). Anyone familiar with how many apps these judges normally get or what makes candidates stand out? Are these judges generally not interested in someone who has practiced in a different market?

Still WFH? What are other chambers doing for task management? Our chambers has been keeping up with assignments, incoming emails needing judge’s eyes, and written orders, all through Microsoft Planner. We share PDFs through Sharepoint folders. Although we still email draft orders back and forth, the system seems to work well enough. We still aren’t operating at our previous capacity because it takes 10x the number of steps to get a motion heard or an order entered—90% of our workload.

Need advice on a specific question!
Interviewed with Chicago court 2 weeks ago; they decide mid-August. Interviewed with DC judge last week; hear from him by this Friday. Chicago said if I need an answer before August, they'd try to make a decision about me sooner.
Should I ask Chicago for an answer? Or should I wait until there's an offer from DC judge? Maybe seems better to withdraw before an offer is made rather than ask for time to think about it/turn down DC? What's proper etiquette?
