Can someone provide feedback on this offer? Analyst role, fed govt contract analyst. Currently <2yoe in audit. Role is max 40 hours a week. Pay will be 80-90k. I like the hours and deviation from accounting, worried about what a government role might do to my career projections. Thanks!
How do I stop favouritism on my project from getting me down? My goal is to leave the firm within the next 6 months if possible. I know that I should focus on learning and gaining as much experience..
Fortune 5 company asking for a quick case analysis and a single slide summary (90 min of effort) as first part of the interview even before recruiter screen. WWYD?
Interested in getting others perspective here. Senior consultant but received an offer in healthcare industry for more money and an upgraded title. TC for the offer is about a 25% increase, with the base being higher than my current TC. Currently working on a high profile client and have a decent chance of being promoted to manager next year but will probably go through hell this year to get it and it’s not a sure thing. Should I take the money and run?
I have an offer for a final round next week that I want to take - I’m also expected to be at a client site Monday through Friday in another state. How do I get one day off and fly home early?

Does everyone have an exit for Accounting? I’ve been searching for industry opportunities but nothing really stands out. I have previous GL Accounting prior to risk so I have a decent pool of options to choose from. I like the work I do in public minus the billable work and the crazy over time.
Those currently hiring - Has the job market become inundated with applicants again or are you still finding qualified applicants to be scarce?
I’m a jr M&A associate with a second round interview at Arnold and Porter. Any insight (the practice, environment, etc) firm wide and specifically NY office would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Got invited to a pitch and they are looking for remote freelance teams only.... Should I trust this? This is not via an agency but directly from the client.
Have first rounds with McK and BCG in two weeks (undergrad) and am liberal arts major. I’m nervous about math portion of case interviews - any resources for practice case math outside of rocket blocks? Or general advice?
I have been told that as a newly joining EM, one would work as an Associate on the first 2 projects to learn the McKinsey way of EMing. Can anyone provide advice on what to watch our for / be aware of? How much will the EM on the project care about tutoring you and providing advice on what it takes to be a good one yourself? How will other members treat you as a new entrant? Dead weight who needs hand holding or a future EM to get on the good side of? How will your performance be evaluated?TIA!
In my first year of big law and hours at my sweat shop firm are already getting to me. Recently got an email from a recruiter promoting a fully remote lit associate position with a 1600 hrs reqmt at a less than 50 atty law firm and essentially what is old Cravath scale pay. Does anyone have experience with a move like this? Too good to be true? I was under the impression that positions with low billables for big law (or close to big law) pay don’t really exist…
Know of any coworkers who do drugs? If yes, what happens if they fail a drug test at the client?
Anyone else currently dealing with the fact that their job/project is exacerbating the deterioration of their mental health?
Do you think parental leave policies and the culture around it at your company are fair?
Even MDs are looking for the referral bonuses now
2 months on the bench now, and I'm starting to freak out. Projects are picking people that are either local or have more relevant experience than me.
A client based in Japan had sent us a list of some Japanese texts and their English translations at our request which we needed. SM: Copy all the Japanese texts and their translations from document that client sent into a new document and send it back to client (to whom it came from) and ask them if they are correct. Me: Why are we doing that? SM: Just to ensure that we have validation in an email that client sent these translations to us. Me: Facepalm 🤦🏻♂️
I work in a group that has had to come in to the office regularly during COVID (lots of work with original documents and wet ink signatures). It’s real estate and title companies still require wet ink documents. One junior has refused to come in because he says he’s concerned about COVID. We all wear masks, close our doors, and socially distance. We’ve all had to pick up the slack for him. Just found out he’s taking his second vacation during COVID and visiting family in FL. I could scream.
For anyone that needs a laugh - I’m trying to baby wear my infant son more, but he has the worst gas. It’s like being strapped to a skunk! 😳😂
If you're billing the same rate, you should get the same salary bands regardless of geography.
I received an offer for a business development associate role at a hedge fund in the NYC area. Headcount is approximately 30 and they have $15bn AUM. I have a meeting with the founder of the firm to discuss compensation but I have no idea what to expect or what is market compensation because I can't find any data online. I am a recent college grad. What is a reasonable base range to expect? Sign on/performance based bonuses?
Anyone have any idea what the in house culture at Zillow is like? SO is convinced they work 9-5 no weekends and >$200k plus benefits and options. I just can’t fathom this being true anywhere for a 6-8 year attorney position. Thoughts?
Is couples therapy covered under health insurance? How should I go about searching for a good therapist/counselor? Gf and I want to do this before tying the knot
Does anyone know how/where to find market data for salaries? I’m a risk consultant in public accounting and am trying to find data to make a case that I should be paid more (my recent raise was disappointing).
Strategy folks - how do you get good at … strategy? Recently started at a startup in a role where I’m the only person under the head of our product team who handles the strategy-focus of the company. He wants me to take more ownership from him and I want to crush it but have no relevant experience here and am still fairly junior. Any books or classes? Or is it just trial by fire.
Just got an offer for manager from another firm and I know Accenture won’t give me the promotion until after the year-end reviews. How can I have the conversation to get a retention bonus now? I’ve already been signaled promotion is highly likely after reviews. Any tips on how to navigate? 15% raise.
