Is Google the end game?
I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

Director: L5
Sr Director: L6
VP: L7
As others have said, L5 is director. Wife works there and leveling is very inconsistent. You have people there with 6 YoE up to 15+. Progress can be very fast if you’re a high performer - seems easier to get promoted, no tenure based promos in most orgs, and transfer with level changes are the norm
How is the comp at the director level for finance? Would appreciate a DM.
Curious if L6 is worth chasing at a G
Probably L5 at best.
Does Visa have an internal referral program? I'm xGoogler looking to apply for a role and wanted to see if I could get a referral.
L5, DM if you have questions
OP - Please share what you learn. Got reached out for a Sr. Director role. Made L7 last cycle.

Visa Sr Director comp is similar to higher end of L5/early L6 at most non-Eng Google orgs.
