Hey all, Finally leaving consulting and I cannot overstate the importance of networking. I knew I was leaving at year 3 of EY so starting in year 2 I started having random virtual chats with people within and beyond my network to learn about opportunities at their firm. When year 3 came around I started following back up with people who I made connections with and secured 3 offers in under a month. In all cases someone senior was vouching for me, guaranteeing me interviews.

I have been noticing a trend where PMs are being down leveled for various reasons when interviewing with different companies. This has happened to several people I know and to me as well. For PMs that conduct interviews, what behaviors/statements have you'll observed from candidates which gives the impression that they are junior though they have a lot of experience?

I’m working as an allocator in market neutral public market strategy funds; am about to be recommended for a promotion to associate. However, an analyst position just opened up internally in Credit, which is where I aspire to be for the next ten years. More growth and more intellectual challenge. I’m conflicted about applying for a lateral transfer and losing out on a promotion. Will I be missing out a promotion or should I negotiate a promotion as part of my application to this role ?

I have an upcoming FDD interview with a case study. I know that the case would involve stuff like Quality of earning , EBITDA…etc. but does anyone know specifically how I can prepare for them? Any one make a move from fund admin after big 4 assurance and then was able to make a pivot to a PE fund accounting team? I am considering moving to a fund admin now. Have 9+ years of big four experience. Worried that I can get stuck in fund admin. But I have interviewed at several big name pe shops and make a few rounds on interviews but then get the same feedback that they are worried about my lack of operational experience.

Had a video interview few days back so I used lumify in my eyes. Did not have any issues prior to use just wanted to look better. After a few uses, my eyes have been very itchy and I also woke up with a swollen eyelid one day. Any suggestions on what I can use for itchy eyes?

Need some career advice: I got an offer at a tiny consulting firm, ~10 people total. My current company is bigger and I'm about to be promoted to manger (+) The pay would be a SIGNIFICANT jump (~140k to ~200k), better work life balance, and I like the owner (-) I am still learning and wouldnt have the same size mentor network. The type of work is mostly PMO (re: boring). Job security is a concern due to company size. The challenge of going to a larger firm if things dont work out. Thoughts?
