And i would build on EY 8 make sure you make it known to your counselor that you would like to be considered for early promote and you should be able to demonstrate how you are already peforming at the higher level on your current engagements.
Getting promoted to senior after only two years is fine. I don't see how anyone would be close to ready after one year... Just my opinion.

I would question why you want to be early promoted. FYI there's no pay bump with promotion. And the reason so many groups are stingy with early promotions because enough people quit right after early promotion (because they wanted a title bump to get a better job elsewhere) and your leadership has to go to bat to get you the promotion. It's a lot of work.
So they would promote you but keep you at the same salary?
Why do titles matter unless you're trying to jump jobs. Honestly you will make more (minus the promo bonus that gets taxed like crazy) if you are a 5 rated senior 3 vs. a 3 rated manager one. A title is a title. If you are chasing that you will never succeed. Build your brand and care about that and your reputation vs. what your title says.
I've never seen it happen, but I suppose it's possible.

Yes. I was early promoted and a few of my friends were too (at different levels). But it depends on BU and service line.

Yes and every region/service line handles it differently. Often you need a business purpose, which can be tough in larger cities
theres a band at every level so your raise depends on how much you make right now and what the salary is for your new positiom at your rating so I would disagree thay your raise would be the same from S2-S3 or S2-M1.,EY6. They are different band levels and effectively you skipped a level so you shouod be compensated for that jump in your new salary. Plus lest we not forget those sweet Promo bonuses. Dont spend it all in one place!!
