Agreed. Wouldn’t do it. Go to another big 4 or find a boutique, go to a client industry role
Anything but a WITCH / Indian pure play
The Indian outsourcers are a race to the bottom. Had the displeasure of doing some strategy work for Infosys consulting as they didn’t have any strategy people and the culture was in the toilet ..
At TCS, you rarely spend much time with coworkers. you’re usually working onsite with the client most of the day. So I wouldn’t worry too much about the company culture. If you land a good client, you’ll be fine.
Your longer term comp trajectory will be lower, even though you may get a boost now. Your potential exits will take a hit. Culture will be a massive downgrade.
There are two reasons to go- you are currently unemployed or going to be unemployed or you hate independence enough to ignore the cons.
This.
TCS recently reached out to me for a Sr. Director role after noticing on LinkedIn that I had both Big4 and WITCH experience.
They extended an offer after 4 rounds of interviews that was $20k below my current comp. I obvioudly declined. A different HR person reached out to me about 1 month later asking if Id consider interviewing again. I replied "only if TCS can offer 10% above my current salary."
I never heard from them again 😕
