Don’t even worry about it - titles vary SO WIDELY across organizations. I’ve taken downgraded titles at larger orgs for higher pay, no problem.
This is for significantly lower pay… a $20k pay cut AND the title demotion. I’m in a small town and I’ve heard that the job market is awful, so I’m worried about turning this down… but accepting it also feels like I’m selling myself short out of desperation :/
I’m about to start looking for a title demotion job as a senior AD due to some serious health issues that my child has. I don’t give AF about titles (though I used to before this new diagnosis for my child) because I have more important concerns in my life that require a better work/life balance. Do whatever will make you happy!
Wishing the best for you and your family ❤️
Context is important here. Are you unemployed and need the job/money? Or is the new shop a better creative opportunity? If you take a demotion at a worse agency then maybe it’ll raise some eyebrows but the market is tough so do what you gotta.
It's the definition of brat
Well that makes me feel way tf better tbh
Do whatever it is you need to do to get by. Titles and literally anything else about your job can be explained to those who need to hear the explanation
Depends on your priority. I took a title “downgrade” but it’s a significantly better creative opportunity + pay raise. No regrets whatsoever
I went from group director to director for more $$ and WFH. 0 regrets…
You can always lie.
I have done this several times over my career and always made more money and gotten bigger and better clients along the way. It’s all about context.
Don’t worry about it as long as it’s not junior lol

It literally does not matter. Roles mean different things at different places. A director one place might equal a manager at another. Sometimes you have to go down a level to break into a new industry and prove yourself to work your way back up.
Absolutely does not matter.
Sounds like you don’t have many options if you took the time to apply and interview for it knowing the title demotion. Shouldn’t be that big of a deal or noticeable unless you’re going from like a director or senior to some type of production junior level title.
Are you making more money and do you have the same or more responsibilities
Less money, probably slightly less responsibilities. I was under the impression that it was a senior role I was interviewing for
If you’re going from a b list agency to an a list, this is expected and understandable.
What about b list to another b list haha
It doesn’t matter
Title yourself Chief Thought Starter. The only place it matters is on a background check when the 3rd party calls to verify your employment lol
