Does managing everything actually limit your career options? I oversee 10 staff, manage safety compliance, and control a $900K annual budget. But after 6 years I still make less than 6 figs.

Does having deep expertise in one area versus managing everything change how employers value you? Depends on the company and the role. Certain titles will only make so much.

I don’t think it necessarily limits you, but I do think it’s important to regularly evaluate your compensation and see if you could earn more elsewhere. With all the responsibilities you have, you should absolutely be making six figures.

I would consider trying to advocate for yourself because that sounds like a large amount of responsibility

Been having trouble moving on since girlfriend ended relationship 3 weeks ago after 2+ years of dating. Before ending it she came over 3 weeks prior to basically give me a chance to work things out and we had a good discussion but then I went back into our routine and didn’t really fight for it or have serious follow up convos that we needed. Now I just have so many regrets that I let her go. I know we still love each other and left on “good” terms but can’t forgive myself for my lack of action.

Guys. I need your suggestion. Shall i stay here in Kolkata or return back to my home town for a month or two provided Magnet doesn't have any space. My home town is nearby. It's not commutable by road but i can come here in short notice if any. I'm currently not assigned to any project so no one checks if I go to office. I have a home here, I have updated address of this place in Kolkata. But I want to stay in my home for some more days 🥺 Salt Lake will open then I would have no option to leave

I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?

I am fairly green in academia (< 1 year) and I want to shift to an area of research which I always wanted to do but never could as a Ph.D. student (because of conflict of interest).
The issue I am facing is that due to lack of my documented research experience in this field (read, lack of papers) I am finding it very hard to land any grant and reviewers keep saying "The PI hasn't demonstrated any experience in said research" blah blah.
Any advice on how to overcome this?
