Deff plays in whether BCG says it does or not. Unconscious bias is a real thing.
No
And @D1- regrettable and inappropriate if true
Nope
If you got the interview, then all that matters is case and fit. Your interviewers likely went to your school already, and if they didn’t, it doesn’t matter.
When I interviewed “you’re from (my school) how are you here?”
I think there are 2-3 people in the entire company that went to my school..that too after an M7 MBA
I don’t think it is unconscious bias as much as they aren’t telling you. Conscious and silent bias.
Unconscious bias. Take a look at the pool of hires. I know my school, a target school, is what helped me network and get interviews in NYC, which I consider to be a region with some of the most competitive candidates.
^ yes but that was in the process of getting interviews. After you have the interview, they’re basically saying that your school doesn’t matter anymore - because you and your school (whether because of or despite) were enough to get you an interview
@B1 - True. :)
