Doing reporting letters for 2 small transactions I recently closed. Deal no.1 felt like dragging along forever and lots of work, but ended up with a short and simple letter because most of the work was “chasing after client to get documents and dealing with their accountants emerged at the 11th hour”. Deal no.2 was actually more complex and involved multiple aspects, but was way less exhausting because the client was way more responsive. Late new year wish: hope I get more of the latter type

Having some severe Executive Dysfunction atm. I can't imagine that the patent attorney bowl here is short on the neurodivergent. Suggestions/tips/tricks/advice are all appreciated. I recently moved, bought my first home, got vaccinated, etc. - basically just a huge load of stressful events that are probably doing a number on my brain, but I also just can't seem to get on top of.

Please, if you're neurotypical, think thrice before posting - I'm not normal, and want help, not stress or dismiss

Taking the patent bar in a week and it’s been so tough studying while working. I’m so behind in my hours this month, and my firm (midlaw, IP only) was pretty clear that they expect my hours to stay on track this month regardless of the exam. I don’t know how I’m going to get through this week and then make it through 6 hours of testing. Please tell me the afternoon session is easier than the morning session, like some others have said 🙏🏽

Curious as to how many deals at once is typical for a first year associate to take on (M&A, mostly private equity clients). Deal size is lower middle market and I’ve worked on deals ranging from $1-$110M. 2 deals at once is plenty for me, but it seems like my peers are able to take on more than that at once and still do fine. Maybe I’m just a slow learner/out of my league at the big law firm I’m at.
