During one conversation a recruiter mentioned that hiring managers often struggle to clearly define what they want at the start. That surprised me a bit. How often do job requirements evolve while the hiring process is already underway?

Something like that can happen but it's probably not very common. Usually the position is pretty well defined. It is possible, however, that after talking to a few candidates some things could come into sharper focus. And it may become obvious that some skills in the job description may go unfulfilled.

It happens more often than it should, but that doesn't mean its a bad thing either. Just like anything in life, changes are bound to occur, so really no surprises if a job role or requirements occur.

Recently, I was asked to reapply for a new role while I was already in 3rd round interviews. Which is annoying because their HR systems resets the process. I guess this is better than keep going on incorrect initial assumptions.

Also, how involved are you REs? I’ve been through 2 retrievals now, but feel kinda in the dark still on a lot of things. Some of the nurses are hit or miss and if I want to talk to my doctor I have to schedule a consultation and its typically a 2 week wait.
