Every single person I’ve spoken to who was impacted has expressed a measure of relief. Edelman is where careers and joy go to die.
While I wasn’t impacted, some of the most talented people I know at Edeleman were let go. And some liabilities who have been reported to HR repeatedly still have a job. I’m baffled, sad, and in shock.
One of my good friends was negatively impacted this week and they handled their location’s layoffs in the worst way. I’m so angry on their behalf.
So many amazing experts were let go. It's so disheartening. Account teams were just demolished, and some still never fully recovered/restaffed from the last round of layoffs. This is the 4th round in 5 years. At this point, I'm ready to volunteer as tribute.
I wasn’t at the agency for long but genuinely enjoyed working there so this is a big blow and the uncertainty going into the new year is tough. Really hoping the large network Edelman prides itself on pulls through for all of us impacted.

The vibes are bad. People are in mourning for their colleagues while also livid at leadership. Teams have been demolished but still need to “work harder and deliver for clients.”
The downfall started a few years ago when the firm tried to get in bed with Huawei behind Samsung’s back, only to withdraw from it days after when damaged has already been caused beyond repair. Despite getting the culprit out of the door (the China CEO at the time). On top of that all the fossils fuel affiliation that came to the surface like oil on water. So many bad decision making at the “top”…
Sorry for my former Edelman colleagues - both those let go and those who are left behind. Are the professionals impacted from a particular expertise or across the board? And are the levels across a spectrum - or all senior? Someone above said Account was decimated vs. specialty experts. Curious if there’s a pattern to level or role or function?
