I know people who are absolutely brilliant but tough personalities, and others who are just okay at the craft but get hired nonstop because they’re chill and pleasant on set. Ideally, you’d be both, but let’s be real. If you had to pick, what’s better for long-term career survival: being “the best,” or being “easy”?

What was your career path to becoming a director?

I’m currently at a studio that has been good to me. They took a chance and allowed me to change career paths. They gave me numerous opportunities that lead me to now, being the head of a department. The big guys at the top has expressed they could see me as the guy to run the company one day but it’s all talk and possibilities right now. I’ll have to wait for now. On the other hand, I have an offer in hand from a much bigger company to be part of their business development. Any advice?
