Yes I had my salary adjusted mid year after I presented my partner with another offer.
It was in January I believe. The firm I was at before EY was trying to get me back, and wrote me an offer for a lot more than EY was paying me at the time. I gave it to the partner and said I don't want to go back but for this difference in pay I feel like I can't turn it down. I asked him if there was anything he could do to bridge the gap and I got a very large raise that same day. I was able to convince them that I did not actively seek that offer (which was true), and I think that helped my case. My raise the next year was a little light which I attribute to the unscheduled adjustment but the following year it was great. I have not felt any other tension or repercussions from this , which is something I was definitely worried about.
I just talked to a partner yesterday and he said there isn't anything that can be done during the year and salary adjustments can only happen at year end. Any experience something different?
Thanks all..
I ask because I'm waiting for an offer and I'm "good and in demand"
Good to hear EY3. Was it December? How did you "present" to the partner?
Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I can get the same action taken for me. It's nice to know that it has actually been done before
I had this happen to me when I was at BAH. Took the same approach as outlined by EY3, and got the same results.
