You do 50 hours/week though. I would make sure your next job would be that or lower if you value WLB.

I had a kid all by myself then I joined a v10 as a lateral after taking only 2 month maternity leave. two years later, they are letting me go. I’m a foreigner so I need a visa to stay here. But I also really want to take a break from work and raise my kid. I can go back to my home country but likely my JD will be useless.. I really don’t know what’s the right decision. I feel very unmotivated looking for a job but also feel obligated to do that

Can you be a socialist/antifascist and a work in biglaw? I am a biglaw associate, currently working in a practice area where I feel my work benefits society as a whole and not mainly our clients at the expense of others. I am also a socialist and care deeply about issues like systemic racism, climate change and the huge differences in income and wealth in this country. People with an income like me and partners in particular should be taxed way more. Any other biglaw folks who feel the same?

Benefits assistance, please! Context: 25F, unmarried, no dependents & no parents 1) Firm provides AD&D of $20k at no cost. Can purchase voluntary AD&D up to $500,000 for $3.50/pp. 2) Group LTD 60% replacement of first $150,000 of earnings for $4.57/pp. Inexpensive I know, but is this worth it for me? Or are these future considerations?

HR and leadership denied my request for our company’s cell phone reimbursement ($60, but it’s still something) because they came to a conclusion that those who aren’t directors don’t use their phone enough for work purposes to warrant it. So I’m about to delete my work email, Zoom, Slack, etc. from my phone. Guess if they need to get ahold of me, they have to wait until I get on my computer.

Anybody who sees themself as a “girly girl” work for a super male dominated client/dept? I’ve been interviewing for a new role that would be amazing - client side, sizable raise, great benefits. Honestly a dream! But the only thing that worries me a bit is the company/industry is VERY male dominated (construction and infrastructure). I see myself as pretty girly and can’t help but fear not being taken seriously or similar issues internally and on the field. Would love to know your experiences!
