My husband didn't want to take his and it caused several large fights, until he agreed to take his paternity leave, but he actually only ended up taking half of it. I'm still pissed about that a year later
What does your husband do?
I took the full 16 weeks that was available. Best thing I’ve ever done! Thankful to Deloitte for providing this amazing benefit.
Absolutely. I wish I'd had this option with my kids. I was at least able to work remotely, which helped, but it was still an incredibly stressful time.
I took full 16 weeks, though in two chunks to be available for the most busiest time. Thanks to EY for this amazing benefit.
Paid time off is something everyone should take advantage of if the opportunity arises. When we had kids, there was only a few days of unpaid time off for paternity leave. I would say there are more factors at play, and should absolutely be something discussed.
We get family leave. I think it’s 16 weeks for the dad. Pretty amazing benefit.
I have friends in UK and Canada who got a year off. That’s amazing too!
Yes, I did the whole 12 weeks last time. Family always comes first there is no promotion or bonus that’s going to make me not take the paid leave to spend time with my baby and spouse.
Also, if you are in a senior role, it sets the tone for your team members so they should not feel bad taking it or they need to think twice before making a decision about paid parental leave.

If you don’t you’re not taking advantage of your Total Compensation, which is so dumb IMO. Why leave a company benefit like that on the table?
I get 16 weeks. I’ve historically taken the first 8 weeks when my kid was born and the other 8 weeks after my wife’s maternity leave is over.
I took the full 12 weeks for both of my children. I got a full bonus and these are probably the happiest 24 weeks of my life.
