Have been seeking to break into the consulting industry. Anyone open for a referral maybe?
After three years on a project, I'm about rolling off. My client manager called me aside and said he wanted to talk to me as a friend. Basically said I've coasted for 3 years...contd
Red-eyes suck... Jetblue Mint rocks... firm not allowing First Class on red-eyes for us lower level schlubs, sucks too...
Shut down at 7pm every day to invest time in my round 2 apps. Set personal priorities and team's expectations. My 1 rating won't help me if I don't get into an MBA program
Would you rather take a full ride for a MBA at UNC Kenan Flagler, or go to NYU Stern or UVA Darden for the full cost?
I just received an offer for a new position and it has everything I want. Do I accept it or ask for a little more?
Former MBB here. Looking to get back into MBB but also considering Alix as I can likely start at Director (was former EM/PL level at MBB). Ops background. Crazy to consider AP?? I don’t mind getting my hands dirty in excel and pptx but def a different working model.
What is a parental leave? How is it different from maternity/paternity? How does Deloitte define parental leave?
Friend Holds a PhD in Physical Therapy. 3 years into working for a healthcare/hospital network. Would they be able to pivot into life sciences/healthcare consulting without having to go to B-School?
What training or guidance are you giving managers at your firms about managing hybrid teams? There is a lot out there on remote teams, but a lot of us are going back three days a week which means people at home and people in the room. Any tips to pass on?
Hi Everyone! I’m torn between which HR certification to pursue (SHRM-SCP or SPHR). Which one would you recommend and why?
Graduated in 2014. Make 150k as a manager now. Looking for Corporate Strategy roles in f500. What should I shoot for for total comp?
Have any US 🐠 gone abroad for their MBA? Looking at LBS / HEC. Pros, cons? Not looking to exit into MBB, FAANG.
Recently started working remotely for a consulting firm in NY, currently living in TX. Single with no dependents, haven’t setup 401k or other contributions yet - my first paycheck was taxed at 38%. Because of my residence in TX, no NYC city tax was withheld (correctly). At 125k, 38% seems absurd! I checked multiple online calculators and even manually checked what my contributions should be against the tax tables - I should be closer to 30%. Does this check out? I hope it’s a clerical mistake
See a young (24-29 yr old) woman with group of several older (40+ yr old) men, clearly work together in a consulting or business type role (based on convo topics and attire). Thoughts/Assumptions?
Looking for ideas on how other companies are celebrating and recognizing diversity holidays like LGBT pride month Juneteenth black history month women’s history month etc.Not just days off
Started with EY as an intern, currently a Senior 2 moving to Senior 3 in Oct. Part of Indirect Tax in the New York Metro Area. Reviews and utilization are consistently above peer group average. CPA, no Masters. Currently salary is 77k. I feel like I’m underpaid compared to peers/others when I see threads on Fishbowl. Does this seem low to anyone else? I need a 17% raise to break 90k at Snr 3, which I’d be bummed to not get after EY preached about high raises. New job searching level bummed 😔.
Does anybody ever feel like the only thing they’re good at is being an attorney (when the imposter syndrome isn’t in full swing, of course)? I’m having one of those weeks where I feel like I’m a bad wife, I’ll never be a good mother, I’m not in shape, and I’m not as good as I once was at my hobbies due to lack of time. I’ve been trying not to define myself by my career as much, but lately it feels like it’s the only thing I do well…sigh.
Which Bain office is hiring now?
Little overwhelmed at the moment and want to use passive investment. What is the closest thing to robo advisors like Wealthfront and Betterment, that we are allowed to use with the Independence related restrictions in B4? TIA
So I have been casually interviewing and got a very intriguing offer today. However, my current employer had just filed for my PERM a couple of weeks back. Any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm guessing I'll have to restart my PERM process at the new company if I decide to switch. Any personal experiences?
Was on a Delta flight and “Runways” played before almost every piece of entertainment. It doesn’t get old. Incredible every time.
Has anyone come up with a fun way to “schmooze” clients virtually? Conference season is coming up and typically we host client dinners and happy hours etc. and it’s a great way to get face time with them. Has anyone put any thought in ways to recreate this virtually? Or other efforts to connect?
Browsing through the podcast top chart for a 5hr flight to SLC - "The McKinsey podcast" is at #24. I'll stick to the black tapes, Thank You very much.
I think the invisible option on Skype was designed to help folks hide from the managers who ping you the minute you log into your laptop first thing in the mornings!
Should I take up a position at a startup? It’s similar to what I’m doing but probably more visibility without the long hours and stress. Or should I wait to get a similar job at a big company?
I just joined and I love this group. Anyone else been missing crazy amounts of time because of sick kiddos? I feel like every time I get caught up a fever rears it’s ugly head.
Just want to say i appreciate seeing my (male) boss leave at 6 pm sharp to go pick up his kid. Sets a great example for men and women.
