How to tackle gap periods in IT interviews?
Hello Nooglers, is it possible to internally switch at Google from TSE (AI/ML) to core ML domain? If yes, how and how much time a person would require to work at TSE position? I received interview call for TSE position so I was wondering if this could be a possibility or not.

BCG final round interview in a week. Any tips on what to expect in a partner level conversation?
- how is it different than the round 1 experience?
- how important is the casing component? I'm doing pretty well, but not perfect. Friends have been eating me 8/10, with the need to improve structure and be more top down in my communication. I'm wondering what I can do to improve that in a week and if that will be a deal breaker on interview day?

It’s not a great idea because those jobs are really inflexible. He won’t be able to step away randomly for an interview, which really needs to be the focus.
Can he get a document review job? There are tons on LinkedIn.

There’s no shame in hustling and working in an entry-level job to make ends meet. It’s not so easy to quickly find a temp, non-legal job.
If he can afford to wait, he can do that, too. What kind of job do you think could be better at this time?
Throwing my hat behind what A5 said as well. I've seen many women derailed by this. Let him figure himself out jobwise, and since he actually has the free time now, he should be taking over a larger part of the homemaking since you both live there. If his attitude during this period is less than desirable, that is a strong indicator of how it's going to be during marriage, and even worse if kids ever enter the picture.
What about legal contract work? Maybe with a company like Axiom.
I have 4.5yrs of experience, 2.5 litigation and 2 of transactional in house, and have never received a callback from Axiom. I’ve applied to 50+ that I met the qualifications for. Doesn’t hurt to try though!
As an update, he’s landed a legal position — at a PD office as an assistant PD, which is work that he wants to do. Phew! Thanks, everyone, for your support!!!

New projects are posted constantly.
He’ll find something.
Thank you! Will have him check this out.
If he picks a company with headquarters nearby, it may be a great networking opportunity. I used to work for Chipotle’s headquarters and we used to hire store-level employees regularly.
Working as a law clerk or paralegal is a great way to get your foot in the door and learn legal procedure - has he tried finding those types of jobs?
Has he tried 1) perusing his local state Bar website for jobs? Or 2) calling around to the local Public Defender and Prosecutor offices? They're usually hiring and great for networking and trial experience 🙂
Also, a lot of state and city Bar associations hold new lawyer events and networking meet and greets along with the networking that happens naturally during an in-person CLE...
I think it's incredibly dumb, but it's not something I can control.
