First trimester “morning” sickness is killing me. Very thankful for being able to WFH during this time. Props to anyone who is/who had to work in an office during it. Do you have any advice on remedies? TMI but I’m literally barfing on calls (on mute of course).

Pre-pandemic of course, but my boss found out I was pregnant at 6 weeks because I was vomiting and she heard me! It sucks.

No real natural remedies that I could find. Pickles help a bit with post-puke hydration and making your mouth feel better.

If you’re vomiting a lot, you may want your doctor to prescribe something like diclectin.

No advice but I always remember one of my coworker 15+ years ago was prego w twins and told the story about how she puked in a plant in the office and had to tell office services bc no one else knew yet. Some much better WFH!

This was me just nine months ago! Crackers and pretzels are your friend. Keep some minty gum in your purse too. It helps distract for a bit until you can reach for a snack.

like

Fruity flavored gum helped me for some reason. Mint gum made it worse.

Try to find what smells/foods make you feel more nauseous, and stick to those that don’t. For me, it was even certain textures of food that caused barfing. I found animal proteins and sugar to be the worst offenders.
At the office, I found it helpful to take frequent 5-10 minute walks which reduced my overall likelihood of nausea and vomiting. It is very counterintuitive.

Masks were my friend to avoid the offensive smells!

Strong sour candy supposedly interrupts the gag reflex.

Hang in there, mama. My only rec: do whatever works for you. There was one week that Gatorade and goldfish were the only thing I wanted. My cousin found that mashed potatoes worked for her. I hope this passes for you!

like

Lots of little snacks. I used to get the most nauseated when I was hungry. Pretzels, Cheerios, crackers… whatever you can tolerate.

like

Preggie pop drops worked for me

like

Dried cranberries (not sure why) and any drink with ginger in it helped me a ton.

Ask your OB for some anti nausea medication! It’s safe for pregnancy and it was the only way I survived.

like

You can ask your doctor for a Diclegis prescription, or try a combo of Vitamin B6 and Unisom at bedtime. Completely saved me during 1st trimester. I was dead.

like

Don’t let your stomach be empty.
Crackers by the bed for right when you wake up.
No big meals, just small snacks.
Ice chips.
Miso soup.
Pay attention to what foods make you feel worse and avoid.
Popsicles and pickles worked for me.

Hang in there!

If you are miserable, go for the real stuff: Diclegis. Life changing relief.

Green juice with lemon and ginger worked wonders for me.

Thank you all so much for the advice!! Diclegis for the win.

Hi.. I’m really struggling lately with stress and anxiety. I’ve always had depression but it’s been more maniac and often manageable. I’m at my breaking point now and don’t know what to do. I made an appt with my doctor (PA) tomorrow. Will they prescribe me an anxiety medicine? What should I ask for? I’m looking for something low dose and minimal side effects. Help!!

Does anyone have experience breaking up w a therapist? I've been seeing my therapist for 5+ years for eating disorder treatment and we've been through so much together, but I don't think she's able to help me anymore. While I've stopped my ED behaviors, they've evolved into OCD, and I'm finding that her methods might be making it worse. I think I want to try an OCD expert instead. But I don't know how to end the relationship. Do I just stop going? Do I explain myself? I don't know what to do 🥺

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️

My therapist just told me I'm depressed..do you ever feel like they tell you things you hear a lot or could have figured out on your own? Like take care of yourself, it's ok to feel such and such, etc. I'm still newer to therapy so wondering if that's the common experience? Do you ever have moments where you're like wow that actually is eye opening and I wouldn't have gotten that from reading self help books and websites etc?

Hi everyone! First time using this app. I always wondered, how are other IT help desk jobs? I’ll share how mine is.
I work at an MSP (Managed Service Provider) meaning we are the IT services for many other companies. It’s busy all the time and I get to experience all different types of apps, OSes, and almost every aspect of IT in this way. I make around 50k which is alright but its hectic as there’s too many tickets and not enough personnel. I heard this is common but I’m not sure.
