Much better…
Why? Better hours, better pay (per hour + effort)
Miss getting compensated in stock and miss the people (I’m sorry many BL attorneys are just insufferable—especially those who have spent majority of their career working in it) so going back
were u in tech beforehand? if so, what sort of role were u doing?

Yes, gave up a career as a pilot to enter biglaw. I got to fly planes and travel the world and made much more money. Gave that up to push paper.
But also I’m lying. Do you mean *legal* jobs?

I unironically sometimes wish I’d been a pilot. If you’re a widebody captain at one of the legacies you’re looking at senior associate pay with some nice benefits. Granted it takes 20 years to get there but if you love flying it’s not a bad gig
I mean… I went in-house if that counts. Experience is much better IF you go to the right company. Some companies suck.

No. Lots of politics. Salary not great. Compete with MBB types.
I was previously an architect. I went back to school for higher pay. Couldn’t be happier about my decision. I still love design, but now I have stable and high salary and can do my own development projects where I am my own client.
I worked at small firms at the start of my career and I would never go back to small law. You are vulnerable to the whims of partners in a way you just wouldn’t be in a large firm that has HR, written policies and management committees. You also don’t have as much support or resources. I know the myth is that small law is more humane, but my experience is that the air of large law firms provides protections.

I worked big4 as an auditor and it sucked. Hours weren’t terrible but pay was offensively low
