Can someone please explain why this exists in my paylslip, is it good or bad from tax perspective and shall I ask my HR to decrease it???

How did you determine what field to go into?
Hello Gang, I’m on the business side for Walmart right now. Walmart Global Tech recently offered me a role to move to the San Bruno office, but I’d be taking a demotion from L6 to E5. YOE: 8, COMP(200k base, 25% bonus, 100k RSU). Is this competitive in the bay? I have Doordash and Instacart in the pipeline, but no final offers yet.
We’re looking for a Chicago brand strategist, 3-5 years experience. Will consider 5+, but salary is capped at $85k. Click link, read job description DM me if interested.

Move dilemma:
Currently @ Arthur D. Little Limited Dubai as SE Manager w/ base comp of 285k $ + 10-15% bonus. Vert limited fit w/ people & projects in the region (MEI) & not motivated by seniors. Not happy w/ the job but good WLB. Very likely to promote to Pr which would include a 20-30% jump in total comp but shift to more variable
Move to MBB as PL. Projects & people are supposed to be great and he could see himself in the long run. Comp is 170k $ + 60% bonus. Will take 1.5y to move to Pr

Find a mentor that has a voice and uses it and you’ll get thousands more than your peers right where you’re at and that mentor will highlight all the good work you do at all the right times.

Best growth —> The ideal growth is building your network at one firm and obtaining an accelerated promotion path. This is even more vital if you wish to obtain partner.
When to settle —> depends on your goal. If it is partner I’d be trying to stay with one firm at SC / M level. If your goal is to eventually exit consulting then changing an average of every 2 years for money and title is fine
Reputable companies—> early in career it is more important. But truth be told being at a prestigious place is always helpful
So if one switches at director multiple times, does he still remain director? And when someone wants to exit at a director level, where do they generally go or do they go wherever they like

OP, There is no way at your age to know your career aspirations long term. Many go consulting and love it. I did industry and non-profit bouncing into consulting at 40, then back to industry and them back to consulting.
I've worked in 4 industries. I loved them all. Then moved when I got bored. I didn't chase money, I chased interests. Money came along. People pay deep specialists, they also pay broad skills, curiosity and hard work.
I work with some well paid MDs that are bored as heck, work very long hours and can't do anything else because they've never run a real P&L.

Getting into consulting was hard because consulting firms didn't used to value industry experience. Consulting people like to think they are in a stressful job. After doing IC design under release schedules I find consulting not that stressful. Once your in consulting the culture is its easy to move between them at the same level.
IC design was highest stress for the job itself. A sales job that was 80% commission was the highest stress for making money. Running a division was the most stressful for being responsible for a large number of employees and to the street.
Can my mentor be an old boss? Lmao
