For those familiar with Chicago, the Renaissance or JW for a potential upgrade for a short anniversary weekend? Not even considering the ritz as i doubt they would give me any sort of upgrade. Thanks!

The Blackstone upgraded me multiple times to amazing suites. It’s an Autograph Collection hotel and has great views of the river

like

Screw both and stay at the Langham. Their rooms are amazing no upgrade needed.

like

Renaissance. I got a great suite with a river view. Really nice hotel, too

like

I did a staycation with an old girlfriend at the JW...there's nothing really going on during the weekend around there. Prefer renaissance if you're doing points. If not, Langham

like

If you can do Starwood do the Gwen instead

I live in Chicago by the river, it’s completely frozen right now and probably will be over next few weeks. So not much of a view.

Are Delta international award tickets fully refundable the same way domestic ones are?

I quit my old job but am working PT for them till they find a replacement. Apparently they could not get a refund on a flight they booked me and my manager is asking if (not me, but I can see it in Teams) I can reimburse for the ticket. It’s $800, anyone know if this is legal?

I have a brokerage account with 7k in it, split 70% VOO 30% SCHF. I now have an additional 11k I can add - how should I allocate it? Should I move towards an 80/20 split just in current funds or add things like a growth (VGT) or high dividend ETF (VYM). All of my retirement accounts are already maxed, FWIW and don’t need the $ for any large purchases needed in the near future.

My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.

I am a contractor with a three month rolling contract and have decided not to renew my contract again. Should I give two weeks notice? I already confirmed it would be renewed with my manager before a new opportunity came along that I am very excited about. I had planned on giving 3 weeks notice, that is until two people in my immediate personal circle have said my company will probably just let me go the day I tell them since I am a contractor. Thoughts?

M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.

Either too much English or they don’t like the new work culture….:( not sure what is not to like about Deloitte though
