I’d definitely list supervising workloads, training new hires, reviewing work for quality, handling scheduling, and being the point of contact between attorneys and paralegals. You could also add process improvements or mentoring if you’re already doing those too.
That's weird, your boss doesn't want to work LOL. However, just so you have an idea for duties on the job is that some additional duties you could propose might include training new hires, setting team workflows and deadlines, reviewing work for quality, handling client communication on behalf of the team, and helping with performance evaluations. Please remember to talk about pay with your supervisor. For pay, I’d suggest researching market rates for Paralegal Managers in your area so you can back up your proposal with data.
Our paralegal manager does all of the things mentioned but also works on budgeting, marketing, the department intranet, social media posts, hiring, onboarding, acts as a liaison with benefits, does annual reviews. She was actually never a paralegal.
Rate of comp depends heavily on the cost of living and market in your area. Some duties that may be relevant to your list when you ask for your giant raise could include: recruiting/screening, hiring, onboarding, training, management of HR topics (like people calling out sick), management of schedules and meeting coverage, caseload assignments and management, technology services and vendor management, intake and potential clients, template and resource creation and curation, drafting and circulating team-wide policies, offering trainings or practice advisories, generating new business through networking (do you have a local paralegal association or degree program?), liaison with other teams (associate, partners, admin/HR/management if your firm has this), marketing, any billing and account auditing/management duties, data analysis and report generation—these were skills I developed as a senior paralegal, which grew into a managerial role over time and after a couple of firm changes
