Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Hybrid work and money
In Vancouver, 💰 💰 💰
I think it depends what stage of life also how far advanced are you in your B4/consulting career.
As an Analyst/Associate: money and WLB
As a senior associate/manager: more WLB, learning opportunities and money is still relevant
At more senior levels including MD: money is less relevant because it’s harder to get paid that well elsewhere. WLB is always good but you should have figured out how to balance life with work by that point. It becomes about doing something different or about being major decision maker for a company.
Money really.
I may be swayed by huge, like govt worker style gain in free time but even then I’m not sure.
I also think a lot about earning potential. With how expensive everything is on the west coast, and with no relief in sight or prospect of it improving, I prioritize future earnings over free time or WLB.
I am looking for more variety of experiences and getting to meet more people to build my professional network.
