How is it that every company complains they can’t find workers yet 9/10 posts on linked in the last few weeks are all about layoffs? And just taking a look at the jobs in your are…why does every job suck and want to pay you 45k?

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

On 22nd Nov, got a call from the consultant at taggd who has been arranging all my interviews. Told my expected CTC and she seemed a bit surprised but didn't negotiate and asked if I have any other offers? I asked when can I expected the OL, she said within a week but didn't take any documents. Can I expect the OL?

I’ve moved around within the bank a few times but I’m just not happy here nor am I where I want to be in terms of comp . I want to pivot into something else but I have no clue what skills I could transfer elsewhere as what we do is so niche. Edward Jones advisor with 30 million AUM and roughly 250k gross production. Been there for almost 4 years. Got an offer at Merrill Lynch to take over a 100 million dollar retirement transition plan in 5 years, or to join a 5 person Merrill Lynch team that manages a lot.

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.

I’ve had radio silence from a small investment bank for about a week now. I’ve completed several rounds of interviews, but last Thursday the firm reposted the job I’ve been interviewing for. On Friday the headhunter said that they’re not sourcing new candidates and it’s probably just LinkedIn automatically refreshing the listing. She said they had a busy week last week but will make a final decision this week - is the delay and radio silence a bad sign or is this typical for experienced hiring?
