By most estimates (which I’m sure you’ve Googled), Lyme transmission requires 24 (or 36-48) hours... if the tick is even carrying. As a dad of 2/4/6 year olds who are avid outdoor types, I feel for you.
In no way trying to minimize, and I know it won’t provide relief, but she’ll be fine.
Hang in there and don’t beat yourself up.
Lots of docs will prescribe antibiotics as soon as there are symptoms and a possible cause. Doesn’t have to be the bulls eye rash. Keep an eye open and talk to your doc if you see anything. I got Lyme last year and thankfully caught it early enough that I’m fine 🤞🥳. Your risk is really low given the te frame so don’t beat yourself up over it
I’m sorry you’re going through this. As a new dad, can someone explain what you’re supposed to do in these instances? Are you not supposed to remove these yourself?
Yup. Exactly. Push hardish with tweezers to depress skin and get the head. And yes, keep it.
If you keep the tick you can mail it to a lab and get it tested for Lyme disease. We did this, got a negative test, and were able to avoid unnecessary antibiotics.
OP - Any update? My little guy just spiked a 102° and we’ve been almost totally locked down. Time for me to worry.
