Have you ever shut down a project after verbally agreeing to do it, but before they sign the contract? I’m really torn, the project manager has been a nightmare and we’re on day two.

Recently got a contract job at Facebook NY. I recently raised my rates after being told I wasn’t charging enough on here. Both of my main clients have already responded saying they either can’t pay me my new rate ($125/hour with 15 years experience) or are interested in “talking further.” So naturally I’m starting to freak out a little bit. I’m still pretty new to freelancing full time. What do I do/say? Do I hold my ground and hope for clients that pay me what I’m worth? Or lower my rates/standards and hope I can make ends meet! Help!
