Take it. It’s a lateral promo 5 months in - great story
She should take it! It’s all about the money & growth potential. She would be going from Analyst to Scientist WITH a pay bump. Yeah...
Tell her to write a sweet letter and a few personal notes to people who helped her/managed her & say ‘Peace’ ✌🏽
Take it - she’s so early in her career that switching companies is not going to look bad plus it looks like a promo. Data scientist title will lead to way more opps than data analyst
Also speaking from an analytics consultant - data sci title can take some time to get to bc most places want experience (heavy ML, etc) so if this is what she wants to do and they’re willing to invest in her skills then this is the chance
Since she just got out of UG, and has only been at her current company for 5 months, she is worried that leaving will burn too many bridges. Is it too early to leave? Salary 15% bump, and she’s always hoped to do data science
I would take it as long as she is confident in the culture and direction at the new organization, and will commit for staying there for a while (2+ years).
Would also consider their tech stack and tools - data science using R versus data science using Python/Spark/Scala could be a difference maker when it comes to exit opportunities.
SM1 can you please elaborate on that? What would the difference in exit opportunities be? Thanks
