From big company to startup — is being the sole in-house lawyer worth it? I’ve been thinking about the jump from a large F100 company to a startup where I’ll be the only counsel. The autonomy and impact sound exciting, but the lack of support and structure feels risky. For those who’ve made this move (or hired for it), what surprised you the most, and would you do it again?

Texas drivers…honest question. Why, why in tf do people just camp in the left lane? I’m talking doing maybe 5 mph over the limit in the left lane when people want to go faster and they can get over?? I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?

How do find a recruiter in the legal field? Have been looking for a job for a year now and trying to transition into another practice area. Applied to more than 20 jobs and still no offers. I feel like I might need some help.

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
