Preparation is good. If you are one of the thousands of federal employees who has been furloughed bc the gov’t shutdown, know that AFGE stands in solidarity w/you and all Feds affected by the gov’t shutdown. We have filed numerous lawsuits to fight the illegal, immoral, cruel actions of the current administration.

Johnson can call the House back into session and do the work of the people instead of the dirty work of 47. Why should the Dems agree to a budget that clearly is not in the interest of the majority of people in this country. A budget that would see healthcare premiums double for many people and become outright cost prohibitive for others. This budget like everything else adversely impacts those that can least afford it.

If you’re an attorney in California my wife’s law firm is looking for attorney’s. Their focus is workers comp defense. They are a woman owned firm. On INC as one of the fastest growing companies in the nation.

Just wanted to say, as a guy in my mid-20’s, cheers to all the 30-40+ y/o LGBTQIA+ folks here—I know we roll our eyes at the performative rainbows on everything now, but you folks made this possible for the rest of us—you fought for acceptance, for our rights, and you made it through the struggle so people my age don’t have the same weight to carry, so we don’t have to be as afraid.
We have a long way to go, and I’ll carry the torch too, but I really think y’all deserve more gratitude. Happy 🏳️‍🌈

Second year associate here who recently switched from litigation to corporate law. I am absolutely swamped while simultaneously having no idea what I’m doing ever and I’m feeling so burnt out. The partners are pretty great and feedback is constructive which I’m grateful for, but I’m so desperate for a compliment I’ve been saving any scrap of positivity in a folder 😭 it’s December 22 and I haven’t done my Christmas shopping because I don’t feel capable of thinking about it. Mid-level associate at a mid-size regional insurance defense firm practicing coverage litigation. Salary is capped b/c my firm only does I.D./coverage and has no direct-hire comm clients. Second round of interviews with a comm lit boutique where I would be the only associate with 5 partners. Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options? I've never worked at another firm.

If you use the pomodoro method for time focus and tracking, do you bill in those increments or just keep your billablr timer going the whole time? For example, I work in 25 minute increments for large projects then I get a break. Do I bill .5 for that increment and restart my billing or keep my billing continuously going thereby not rounding up for those 5 min? I have just kept my timer going.
