Regardless of what others say in the comments, OP, you should know some of us on this godforsaken app really appreciate this post.
Thank you A4. I knew this would draw a lot of vitriol, but when a friend shared about it with me, it made me pause for a while and consider why it feels so scary to speak out in any way in my current role (biglaw). So I hoped it would resonate with some. Sounds cheesy but I do still really believe in the oath I took and feel like I have some social responsibility as a result, and trying to think about what that looks like right now.
Thank you for your post. I would think people who are supposed to support the rule of law and the constitution would be more supportive of the initiative. But, once again, I've been proven wrong by unscrupulous lawyers.
More importantly, remind your kids not to interfere with law enforcement.
Ahhh comply and obey. The foundational pillars of American freedom.

Getting some OOO messages already from clients who are participating :)
Also, I’m fortunate to work for a firm that didn’t sign an agreement with Trump. We stole some clients this year who didn’t want to work with firms that did.
I actually didn’t realize this was happening tomorrow, so thanks for flagging. I probably will work tomorrow (just solo work), but I think I will make an effort not to push meetings, etc.
F ICE. As an attorney. I support the US Constitution, thanks.
Same here - was also planning to participate in no-buy and maybe call congresspeople if I can make myself feel brave enough…
I think there are a lot of worthwhile ways we as attorneys can be contributing right now. Donating, volunteering our time, using the platforms and privilege that we have to speak out about what is going on (including contacting legislators), maybe even relevant pro bono opportunities, all come to mind. I'm as horrified as we reasonably should be about what is going on right now, but symbolically protesting by not getting work done that my clients need isn't going to help anything and (IMHO) is a misdirected effort.
1000% agree! Even if “strike” feels scary (it does to me) there are other ways to participate and show solidarity.
What are you even talking about? Might there be something else you can do to feel good about yourself besides harming your employer/clients/colleagues with your self-righteous idiocy that costs YOU nothing but actually makes your day easier?
This is dumb. We would just end up losing a day of billing that we would have to make up.
You call it “a general strike” while the rest of us call it skipping work and the few of you who have jobs outside of agitation call it “Fired.”
LOL you’re gonna get fired for missing one day of work? How shitty is your firm? You don’t get any personal days?

I appreciate the response.
My boss told everyone that we cannot strike and that we cannot talk about politics during working hours, but we can talk about politics during lunch. I wasn’t planning to strike and I wasn’t planning to talk about politics but being told that I cannot rubs me the wrong way.
What happened with the strike?
