Given the recruitment journey I've been on to date (Referred-> Rejected without a screening, despite doing the same role at a competitor company -> Independently headhunted by Amazon recruitment a few weeks later -> Call with recruitment -> A week later sent referral link to apply -> A week later sent an assessment link -> Several days later invited to interview) should I assume Amazon recruitment is understaffed or is it typically this convoluted?

Went through multi-day loop for L5 SA and felt confident in my interactions. Presentation went well with no lack of answers for follow up questions. Just found out 6 days later I will not be receiving an offer, and it is policy to not provide feedback of gaps or reasons behind no offer. Also found out they ask you not to reapply for 1 to 2 years for same role. Would anyone recommend an alternate path for feedback on interview (outside of recruiter) and is the 1-2 year policy true?

Amazons excessive interviews are an awful candidate experience. Why do they think this will help them win top talent in this competitive environment? Especially with their public cultural issues…? Lots of great paying companies without having to take a day off from work to interview! It’s overkill
