Nah, you owe them nothing
I agree. You really don't owe them anything. They wouldn't hesitate to let you go if the tables were turned. I don't think you owe them a thing.
Business is business at the end of the day. It’s nothing personal so just put in your notice and don’t burn any bridges before you leave. There’s a possibility the FA might try and talk you out of leaving or give you a counter offer but just politely decline.
"Hi Bossman, I wanted you to know that I have been offered a job at a different company. After careful consideration I have decided that, while I have appreciated my time here, this is just too good an opportunity to pass up. Thank you for all you have done for me."
1. Don't actually call him Bossman, I just don't know his name.
2. If he values you he will have questions, like where, what is so great, etc. Looking for a chance to change your mind.
3. You will know if he really feels he is doing you a favor buy putting up with you if he has zero thoughts or questions.
Either way, you owe them nothing. It is business and you need to take care of yourself for all the reasons mentioned above.
If he's the best person on the planet he can figure out how to manage his own clients! Go get that bag
Good for you leaving a toxic environment. Good luck in your new position!
Put in your 2 weeks if he asks why tell. Candor is perfectly acceptable if it’s done with respect.
Candor is not wise. It’s a small world, and what you say and how you handle this could come back to bite you.
Be professional. If he asks, emphasize your reasons to go rather than your reasons to leave. He might try to guilt you or bribe you to stay, so be prepared.
Not like he’ll care if he needs to fire you, why should you care when you leave? Give him your two weeks as a courtesy nothing more or less.
From your description it doesn’t sound like there’s much you can do to temper his reactions so just move on.
I feel like his ego is overflowing. You can't do anything to a person like that. Might as well move on and forget about him. Good luck!
Are you leaving your bonus?
No, I get a fixed monthly comp currently. New team is giving me a substantial revenue share.
