Sorry to hear that. Title matters in any company imo
Google cares less about titles. But I have 6.5 years of total work experience plus MBA and most people I know is similar situations went into roles with the title of Lead
Title means nothing at Google, as it should. Make sure you get the right pay level though.
Google’s GP team is legit. And as people have said, title doesn’t matter. I have a friend one year out of school with the title “Partnerships Manager”. Just make sure you get the correct comp.
Fun fact: Sundar is my brother’s wife’s cousin. Dead serious lol
And just for comparisons sake I left EY as a manager making ~$120k a year. My offer at Google was also for a role with “manager” in the title and was for ~$250k a year.
Don't worry about titles just yet. If it's important to you talk to them before your on-site. 5 years down the line I doubt it will matter much to your career trajectory even if you went as associate.
More important question is, do you want to work at Google and does it align with your plans. This is a material shift in industry and perhaps more important than title change.
For the record, I would care a whole lot more about title if I was switching to another consulting firm etc..
Does Google hire for remote jobs? What’s the “best” group if so? High pay with good culture (not running around hair on fire 🔥 high stress) if that exists...
@google 250 all in including bonus and rsu? That is pretty good if so
Title means jack at Google. I interviewed for a lead role with 2 years exp... maybe that’s why I didn’t get it
I know they’re hiring at all levels, and I’m sure they just sent you a job listing that they had on hand. Mention that you’d like to join as a lead in the phone screen.
Negotiate a better title if you want the job and get it
Google doesn’t do remote
You would think they would! Any idea why not?
The best group? Besides other Alphabet entities (Waymo, X, etc.), my friends at Google tell me Google Ventures, Google Capital, this elite team within Global Partnerships lol, and the usual M&A teams.
So all these teams sit on two floors in Chelsea market - it’s cool to think about all this talent that’s just concentrated there haha
I’ve heard when Sundar is in New York, he usually visits these teams more often compared to the rest of Google offices spread around the city
There is an internal consulting group, but from what I know, because Google is very silo’d, strategy is usually set at the top. And as a result, this consulting team is usually assigned to do more operational work.
OP, I will confirm that the actual title means nothing at Google. What does matter for pay is the level. With your experience I would think you would come in at the L5 level
