Just wear it everyday. Don’t need a winder.

This. Done.
When you spend $5k on a watch and don’t look up what “automatic” means 🤦♂️

They literally only work on automatic watches lol
Don’t use a watch winder if you don’t have any very complicated watches (e.g. perpetual calendar). It will (slightly) wear out your watch. If you happen to not wear it for a couple of days just wind it up and set it

Agreed with the above, if it’s your first automatic watch, you really don’t need one, winder comes in handy with you have a few watches that you rotate. But if you must get one, Wolf winders are one of the best, the Cub model should be sufficient.
That’s helpful

Like the above said, be careful with a watch winder. This is my personal thought: if you’re planning to wear it almost all the time, the watch winder will be helpful for those days you don’t wear it for a 2-3 day stint. Otherwise, if you’re wearing it a handful of times, you don’t want to put the consistent wear and tear on the gears. I have a wolf cub (highly recommend) but I don’t use it much. Make sure not to buy cheap ones. Wolf winders are calculated to spin only a specific number of rotations in a day to prevent overwind.

Re: overwind, that’s not possible. Automatic watches can’t be overwound - the end of the mainspring isn’t fixed, and a heavier duty grease is used. This is a different architecture to how manual wound watches work, where it is possible to cause damage by overwinding.
Automatic watches are engineered to be worn every day, which is why they can’t be overwound. This also brings me to my second point.
In the context of one watch, I agree that a winder isn’t necessary. However, if you have a collection, a winder lets you help direct where the wear on the movement occurs. The normal timekeeping mechanism is designed to run all the time. The time setting and manual winding mechanism is much higher-friction and isn’t designed to be used all the time. IMO, using a winder lets you move the wear to parts of the movement that are better equipped to deal with it, when compared to having to wind and set a watch to wear once a week or so.
