Guys- what's a good gift from your SO under $500? Just replied to the thread for women and need some help of my own.

I’d much prefer an experience with my SO vs a physical gift which I can buy myself. Tickets to a show or a game, event, etc.

My wife alternates between buying me $500 of beanie babies and Pogs each year, it's really an investment in our future

My SO gives me a $500 GC every birthday and Christmas lol. SO says i’m too picky, but I think my SO is lazy. 😂

funny

But I dont have $500. I spend it fast

I would focus on your SOs hobbies. If he’s a scotch fan get him a special bottle, if he’s into sailing get him something related to that, if he’s a golfer there are a ton of things you can ge think related to that, and so on.

I never understood the reason for this generic question, why would random men online know what your partner wants more than you? If I ever got something generically ‘male’ for my partner he would think I know nothing about him.

like

Basketball tickets

Appreciate the help! Based on that, I’m thinking heat.

I don’t know your SO so I can’t describe what is meaningful. However a beer of the month club is always successful

Fancy Perfume (Byredo, Tiffany, Jo Malone, Flower Bomb)
La Mer / Khiels / skin care

Edit - I misunderstood OP, I thought this was suggestions for guys to get girls but I understood it the opposite way

But as the commenters above said, this is just generic stuff I would suggest without actually knowing anything your gf likes

The gift that they buy themselves after you give them $500 👌

Mine got me a training flight in a sea plane and then a helicopter. I enjoyed it a lot.

As someone who is interested in public interest law (open to impact litigation or policy work), does it make sense to clerk in state court -- trial level -- and if so, for how long? Are these clerkships only useful for becoming a state court judge down the line or can they open doors to other paths?

I am interested in learning data science and excel in that path. Please let me know any opportunities.

Currently 25 years old.
Goals:
* Own a home in a HCOL
* 2 kids (eventually)
* Retire at 50 on $125k/year.

Envelope math:
* $125k/year would require an investment portfolio of ~$3M.
* Targeting a $2M home (split with partner)
* 2 kids - $1M to raise both (including college fund, split with partner)
* $500K buffer for unexpected expenses
* 33% tax

Therefore, 6.5-7M retirement savings needed. To hit this (assuming 6% return after inflation), I’d need to save ~$110k/year.

How does this sound?

Advice and tips for a first time rental property investor?

I am 24 saving up for my first property to purchase at the end of 2021 / early 2022 in the Long Island, NY area.

I’d like to save up around $50K in my HYSA for a property <$400K in LI. Does this sound reasonable?

Does anyone have any advice on investing in the LI area (best location, SFH v MFH) or just general first time rental property buying advice?

Thanks all

Which do you use (if any estate planning) and why? Recently talked with a layer on getting a will and they are trying to steer me to a trust.

Demographics for ref: 30, live in GA, unmarried, no kids, no real estate (yet, planning to buy after market cools). I don’t envision I’ll amass a ton of physical assets over my life so really just need to say where my various $ accts go (401k, pension, IRA, etc)

Trust cost was $2,900. Didn’t give price for will.
