Oddly enough, I have gone back to a previous employer not just once, but twice. The first time was because I relocated and ended up coming back in just less than a year, and the second was one of those "the grass isn't greener" situations. At this point, I can't imagine NOT going back. I feel like I belong here and coming back just proved that to myself and I think my company, too. Got a decent raise both times and would in no way consider it going backwards.
I’ve had jobs where I really enjoyed my team or my coworkers, but I always leave a job for a reason. Going back and assuming things changed or got better is just a recipe for disappointment. I don’t change jobs often but when I do, I usually can’t stand it anymore. So I don’t think I’d ever go back.
Totally get this — sometimes nostalgia hits hard, but growth really is about looking forward, not back.
I think I would. I got into customer service after working in restaurants as a server for years. I thought this was good for my career and really wanted to get away from the crazy hours and into a true 9 - 5 role. I liked it for a while, but I haven't been able to grow here and the money is actually worse than I earned serving after tips. Thinking I may have made a big mistake.
Yes, but only under certain circumstances. My last, last job wasn’t bad, I enjoyed it a lot, and there was room for improvement. Just ended up going for a better offer at a different company.
